Best Family Resort

Many people use travel sites like Expedia and Trip Advisor to determine their vacation destinations. These sites allow you to read comments from other families who’ve visited resorts in the Caribbean. We encourage you to go to these sites and search for reviews on The Buccaneer. We’re confident you’ll see that we’re one of the very best family resorts in the Islands.

The remainder of this Buccaneer note is written entirely from words and sentences on review sites. I’ve re-arranged them and changed the verb tense, but not added a single adjective of my own. I’ve highlighted many of the descriptive phrases our customers use in writing their reviews of The Buccaneer.

A week or two at ‘The Buc’ will be the most wonderful vacation of your life.

There, in the absolute beauty of St Croix The Buc sits amid some of the most beautiful scenery of the entire island. Even with all that beauty and elegance, it was the people who made our stay so enjoyable It was extremely pleasant to discover was the Kids Camp where Windie, one or our trained camp counselors, and our 8-year old daughter became fast friends.

Our staff makes The Buc the Best Family Resort

Many guests comment on the friendliness of the staff. Anything you need will be attended to immediately. Crusians, as the locals are known, are the most friendly, talkative folks you’ll ever meet. Our staff are all well trained professionals and we regularly hear how friendly and helpful they are with guests.

We hear from many visitors that The Buccaneer reminds them of the kind of tropical resort frequented by the stars of yesteryear. There’s a certain charm one can see in movies of that time period that you’ll find both luxurious and relaxing. This charm will lead you to experience a wonderful and RELAXING time! One couple told us they took their 9 year old son with them; a challenging age. Their son exclaimed, “This is paradise!” He enjoyed the resort so much that he asked if we can go back again next year.

Many who bring their family to visit The Buccaneer for the first time fall in love with the hotel. Those who have traveled extensively, staying at many 4 and 5 star hotels around the world, comment on our how carefully we blend ‘island elegance’ with ‘island casual.’

Best Family Resort for Kids

Families who visit find that the beaches are great for little kids. There are no big waves and parents feel comfortable allowing even young children to play in the sand and wade in the water. You’ll find kids activities throughout the day, including hermit crab races (kids love these) and free, (carefully supervised) snorkeling tours and lessons in which your kids can explore a shallow reef, just feet from the beach.

Again and again we hear that one of the main things that make this a >wonderful spot for a family vacation is Kids’ Camp. Here, your children will have many supervised activities from nature walks; to swimming to sand castle building; to arts & crafts; to volleyball. There’s a wonderful game room for those very infrequent rainy days. It’s a wonderful way to keep your kids entertained so you can relax and enjoy the beach, spa or golf course.

From those traveling with teenagers to those sharing our resort with their 21 month old, the Buccaneer is a LOVELY (not overly fancy or stuffy)vacation destination for families.

Great meals are very important

We regularly receive emails and letters telling us how much guests enjoy the food at The Buccaneer. The day begins with a breakfast which is ‘the best you’ll ever see!’ A fantastic buffet is laid out, but of course we’ll freshly prepare whatever your heart desires in the kitchen. Even the dining for children is superb.

High up on the hill, overlooking the beautiful Caribbean and Christiansted Harbor, >each meal comes with breathtaking views. The most beautiful time of day, sunset, also arrives with wonderful dining on the Terrace. The menu is classical with Caribbean accents. Guests remember the Caribbean Lobster Ravioli, the Jerk Seasoned Boneless Pork Chops, and especially the delightful Caribbean Lobster with Crucian key lime butter sauce.

Those with dietary restraints will find that our staff is very thorough in reading labels to ensure that your needs are met. The breakfast buffet each morning is wonderful with fresh fruit, cereal, eggs, sausage, bacon, numerous types of bread, french toast and made-to-order eggs.

Write your own adjectives

We hope you’ll join us at The Buccaneer very soon. It’s always our aim to be the best family resort you and your family can find. We promise you an experience worthy of your own descriptive phrases when it’s your turn to write a review of your Buccaneer vacation.

The highlight of each year for our family is our annual visit to the Buccaneer. We first (1998!) visited because it was (and still is) the best deal for families in the Caribbean. The Family Cottages are perfect for families looking for space, a gorgeous view and a great value. We have visited 11 more times since then because we have come to love the staff, the view, the staff, the island, the staff and the wonderful restaurants on St. Croix. Did I mention the staff??? It is part of our family ‘story’ and holds a very special place in each of our hearts. We are visiting in 2011 without our teenage son and it will be a tough transition.
