The charming and romantic Sugar Mill. The unique shape of the sugar mills on St. Croix are a hint that they’re of Dutch origins. As you’ll likely recall, our beautiful island had many flags flying over it. The Danish West India Company purchased St. Croix from France in 1733 and it became a Dutch colony in 1754.
